Started and ran two companies. The first worked out better than the second. I am growing into a partner in the latest venture and we are branching off and starting a new business, basement waterproofing. We have the skill set, equipment, man power, and it is a much broader demographic for a client base. I have a ton more ideas for businesses that would probably fail.

Re: And now some Comcast Hate

Heh - too funny. They definitely deserve the Golden Poo award, though the lady who finally helped me sort this out was a very nice older lady from Prince Edward Island in Canada, I'm sure she appreciates the work.

Re: And now some Comcast Hate

Comcast wins the Golden Poo award, earns the title of "Worst Company In America for 2010":
http://consumerist.com/2010/04/congratulations-...

Go comcast!

Re: And now some Comcast Hate

That is incredibly lame! Not just deceptive, that kind of practice deserves a visit from the state attorney general.

Fios has been good. They drop out a heck of a lot less than Cox did, and I'm getting 20/5. Not bad.

Re: Me == sucker for shiny cars

Yeah - these are all made in Germany, and its my understanding the VW issues were from early ramp-up of their Mexican factories.

The car is beautiful, the turbo is awesome, the drive is a lot of fun.

Hint - you shift into 6th gear somewhere between 75 and 80. Why should humans be subjected to such bad software? It's not home networking if it doesn't work safely, securely, and simply in the average home.

You know what else grinds my gears? Cable companies installing cable modems with a single ethernet cable into the back of a Windows machine. That's like asking for a huge botnet of zombie computers. Why not build a simple NAT router into every cable modem? That must exist for $1, would hardly impact the price. That alone would probably prevent most of the botnets.

Re: Technology has far to go

Completely agree - wireless networking is the perfect case study in stupidity. Wireless networking. It's amazing that the wireless software to manage our radios is so difficult. It does a half-way decent job, but anytime there's a problem it's completely untroubleshootable.

"New networks are found". Great. "Double click on a network to connect." Double click. Wait. Nothing. Click refresh. "You are not connected to any network. Networks: homenet, unsecured, you are connected to this network, click here to connect."

And then P2P wifi... while I'm sure it works in some crazy fashion, it's so obscure that no one uses it. Why can't it be like rendezvous, a presence-aware thing that just shows you what AP's and what computers are in the area, and allow you to connect to any at the same time?

Technology is so stupid.

Re: Technology has far to go

You know what really grinds my gears?
